Yallop reportedly leaving Galaxy to coach San Jose

11/05/2007 - Carson, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - According to report that was first broke by SI.com, Los Angles Galaxy coach Frank Yallop will be leaving that position to take up the same position with the San Jose Earthquakes, Major League Soccer's returning expansion club in northern California.

The Galaxy have no official comment on the matter yet, but it has been reported that Yallop informed the Galaxy players in a team meeting that took place after the team's charity match on Sunday night at The Home Depot Center.

"We've felt that he's a good manager and a strong character with the team, so it was disappointing for us to lose him at this stage," Galaxy star David Beckham told MLSnet.com.

In his season-and-a-half in L.A., Yallop has been unable to guide the team to a playoff berth. This comes after previous MLS success with the Earthquakes franchise that since moved to Houston. Yallop was coach of San Jose back in 2001 and 2003 when the team won MLS Cups.

After 2005, the Earthquakes organization become the Houston Dynamo. Earlier this year, San Jose was added as a 2008 expansion club with new owner Lewis Wolff. John Doyle, formally Yallop's coaching assistant, as named the team's general manager.

"We wish him luck," Beckham said. "We'll just have to wait and see who comes next."
